Your Comfort
Comfort during, recovery after.
Periodontal treatment makes a lot of people nervous. Dr. Baradaran plans for that from the first visit: anesthesia that keeps the treatment area numb, sedation options for patients who want them, and a recovery you understand before you ever sit in the chair.
Schedule a ConsultationDuring Treatment
Comfort in the chair
Local anesthesia is standard for periodontal procedures. It numbs the treatment area completely, so the procedure itself is not painful. Most patients tell Dr. Baradaran the experience felt calmer and more routine than they expected.
For patients who feel anxious, sedation options are available. Whether sedation is a good fit, and which option to use, is discussed and chosen during your consultation rather than decided on the day of surgery. Nothing about your care happens without being explained first. If this is your first visit, the new patient consultation is where all of it is covered.
Dr. Baradaran performs every procedure himself. He answers his own phone and follows up personally, so the periodontist who plans your treatment is the same one who carries it out and checks on you afterward.

After Treatment
What recovery looks like
Most periodontal procedures are done in the office, and you go home the same day. Some mild swelling and soreness for a few days is normal. It should settle a little more each day rather than build.
Soft foods are the right call at first. After each procedure, Dr. Baradaran gives you written care instructions matched to what was actually done, since recovering from a single dental implant is not the same as recovering from gum disease treatment or a full arch case.
Follow-up is personal. Dr. Baradaran checks your healing himself at your follow-up visit, and you have a direct line to the office if a question comes up in between. You are not handed off to a call center or an associate.
Care Basics
- Plan to take it easy the day of your procedure
- Stick to soft foods at first, as instructed
- Mild swelling and soreness for a few days is normal
- Follow the written instructions for your specific procedure
- Keep your follow-up visit so healing can be checked
When to Reach Us
When to call the office
Recovery usually follows the path Dr. Baradaran describes at your visit. A few signs are worth a phone call so he can check on you sooner rather than later. Calling early is always the right move, and the office would rather hear from you than have you wait and wonder.
Fever
A fever in the days after your procedure is worth reporting so it can be looked at.
Bleeding that will not slow
Some light oozing early on is normal. Bleeding that does not ease with gentle, steady pressure is a reason to call.
Pain that worsens
Discomfort should ease over time. Pain that grows stronger several days out, instead of settling, should be checked.
Swelling that keeps building
Swelling that keeps increasing after the first few days, rather than going down, is worth a call.
Anything that feels off
You know your own body. If something does not feel right during recovery, call and ask. That is what the office is there for.
